3 Redwood City Port Commissioners Elevated

Earlier this month, the Port of Redwood City’s Board of Port Commissioners voted to elevate a trio of incumbent commissioners to officer positions.

Commissioner Richard Claire was chosen as the new board chairperson. He was first appointed to the commission in 2007 after serving 21 years on the Redwood City Council, including four years as mayor.

Commissioner R. Simms Duncan will serve a second term as the vice chair. He comes with more than 20 years of post-MBA business experience and serves as president of the Board of CityTrees, a volunteer group that promotes and supports urban forestry efforts in Redwood City.

Commissioner Richard Dodge will serve as board secretary. Dodge, a longtime commissioner, was first appointed in 1980. He was a past president and current regional coordinator of the Association of Pacific Ports.

“I am pleased to step into the leadership role alongside Commissioners Duncan and Dodge and am grateful to (outgoing chair) Commissioner (Lorianna) Kastrop’s leadership this past year,” said Claire. “The Board of Port Commissions strives to support our maritime community and continuing the work of our predecessors.”
