ONE Completes Majority Purchase of TraPac, Yusen Terminals

It’s official: Ocean Network Express (ONE) has acquired a majority stake in the TraPac and Yusen container terminals in Los Angeles and Oakland. ONE announced Nov. 6 that it has secured the regulatory approvals required for a 51% stake in TraPac and YTI, as well as a 20% stake in Rotterdam World Gateway. It’s a move that strengthens ONE’s presence on the U.S. West Coast, North Europe and Southeast Asia. More than a dozen port projects in Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington are expected to receive a portion of $653 million in Port Infrastructure Development Program funding announced Nov. 3 by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration (MARAD). There’s now a pool of money available to offset the costs of buying zero-emissions trucks that move cargo through the Los Angeles and Long Beach ports. The ports have made available $60 million in Clean Truck Fund Rate funding through the California Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project, enough to buy up to 800 new zero-emission trucks.
