BYD Introduces 2 Electric Drayage Trucks

Vehicle manufacturer BYD recently introduced two battery-electric heavy-duty trucks, the Gen3 8TT and 6F, at ACTExpo 2021 in Long Beach.

The two trucks feature cabs by former Audi chief designer Wolfgang Josef Egger and are outfitted with Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems, an Electronic Parking Brake system, keyless entry and push to start functions, and have up to 185kW CCS1 charging capability, according to the company. Both can operate up to 200 miles on a single charge.

Gen3 8TT can perform drayage, regional haul, and distribution loads, while the 6F can do regional haul and distribution work, according to BYD.

“We listen to our customers and their drivers to ensure we provide the features and performance they need to get a job done,” BYD North America President Stella Li said. “With our next generation 6F and 8TT, we’re making history by setting a new standard for driver comfort and safety in an electric vehicle.”
