More than 500 people are expected to attend Bellingham SeaFeast 2021 in Bellingham, Wash. on Oct. 30, an outdoor event spotlighting the region’s waterfront and maritime sector. The Port of Los Angeles moved 954,377 TEUs last month, narrowly short of the 961,833 TEUs handled by the port in August 2020, according to new numbers released by the port Sept. 15. The port saw 485,672 TEUs in imports last month, about 6% less than it did in August 2020 when retailers rushed to replenish low stocks of goods. Meanwhile, the port moved 101,292 TEUs in exports last month, a 23% drop from the same time last year, and saw 367,413 TEUs in empty containers processed through their docks, a surge of 17% from August 2020. An unmanned gravel barge collided with private docks and houses near Gig Harbor, Washington on Monday, March 15, according to the USCG. Members of the Coast Guard’s Sector Puget Sound answered a call from Pierce County dispatch who reported that the barge under tow by the towing vessel Island Chief, had come in contact with several docks and homes. The M/V Dream, also known as the former 310-foot Evergreen State ferry, will be auctioned to the highest bidder on Nov. 17. The U.S. Marshal arrested the vessel Sept. 15 at the behest of the Port of Olympia because of almost $67,000 in unpaid dockage and fees. The decommissioned ferry came to the port in April 2018. The port, which had not received payment from the owner since January, placed a lien against the vessel ferry. In June, the port tried to work with the owner who was seeking potential buyers, but the owner came up short. The port had the vessel arrested.…
