The first all-electric passenger ferry in France has entered service following completion by Idra Navacco at Soudan. Built to a design furnished by L2O Naval, based in Lorient, the 35-passenger e-Boucarot is powered by an integrated electric propulsion system developed by Germany’s Torqeedo that consists of two 10 kW electric outboards and four 48V 5 kWh lithium batteries.
The 32.5-foot-long all-aluminum catamaran has a top speed of eight knots and can operate for up to 20 hours between shore-based recharges.
