For the sixth straight year, the Environmental Protection Agency has recognized LTI, Inc. and its Milky Way bulk milk hauler division with a SmartWay Excellence Award, which is the EPA’s highest honor reserved for those who show environmental leadership in the supply chain.
Out of 4,000 partners, only 62 carriers were chosen. LTI is among a dozen firms that have six awards.
LTI, Inc., which specializes in the transport of liquid- and dry-bulk commodities in the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada, is a subsidiary of Lynden Incorporated, a family of transportation and logistics companies primarily serving Alaska and the Pacific Northwest.
Every year since 2010, LTI, Inc. and Milky Way have offered up their operational data to the EPA for review and, according to LTI, have consistently ranked in the top 1% of tanker carriers nationally for “low carbon monoxide, nitrous oxide and particulate matter emissions” while operating in extreme weather and carrying the heaviest payloads.
“To be recognized for a sixth year is a true testament to our team,” LTI, Inc. President Jason Jansen said. “Our entire group is consistently focused on innovation and efficiency. We are continually seeking opportunities to remove waste from operations. All these efforts reduce the impact of transporting freight on our environment.”
