Lacey Greene, a second-generation shipbuilder who started with Nichols Brothers Boat Builders (NBBB) 20 years ago, has been appointed NBBB’s new vice president of new construction sales, the Freeland, Washington-based company has announced.
Greene, who rejoined the company in mid-July, is deeply connected to NBBB and sister company Everett Ship Repair.
Her career journey at NBBB and ESR is a testament to her dedication and passion for the industry, CEO Gavin Higgins said.
“Lacey’s innovative approach and commitment to excellence will drive our growth and strengthen our position as a leader in shipbuilding,” he remarked.
Greene’s father worked for Nichols Brothers Boat Builders’ shipyard for many years, giving her an early appreciation for the fishing boats, catamarans and other vessels being built there, she said.
She went on to join the NBBB labor crew on the construction of the Seafighter (also known as the X-Craft) and the paddle-wheel cruise vessel Empress of the North, (now called the American Empress).
At NBBB, she was involved in the proposal development for many repair and new-build projects such as the Bowhead Transport landing craft and Lindblad Expeditions cruise boats, the company said.
“Lacey has been an integral part of our team for many years, and as I announce my retirement, I am certain that her deep understanding of our operations and her vision for the future make her the ideal person to lead our new construction sales,” said now-retired NBBB Vice President Matt Nichols, who mentored Greene. “I am confident that Lacey will restore the high standards and legacy of Nichols Brothers Boat Builders.”
