The Port of Long Beach is seeking concept proposals for projects that generate solar power and wants to fund winning proposals through its Community Grants Program.

Public and private entities are encouraged to apply. About $2 million worth of program funding is eligible for such projects, which should help people most affected by port operations, such as seniors, women who are pregnant, children and people with asthma or chronic conditions, the port said.

“Prospective applicants are required to describe proposed projects at a high level and program staff will determine project and applicant eligibility,” the port explained.

Applicants must submit their concept papers online by 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23.

From permeable parking lots to open space buffers, The port’s Community Grants Program has committed about $36.5 million toward various projects that improve the quality of life of communities directly impacted by the port and reducing air pollution.
