Los Angeles and Long Beach port officials will update the public on the San Pedro Bay Ports Clean Air Action Plan during a virtual meeting scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to noon on Oct. 19.

In their second CAAP meeting of the year, officials will discuss various related topics, including the development of tariff language.

First approved in 2006, the CAAP is a landmark strategy for battling air quality issues related to port operations in San Pedro Bay. Since implementing the plan, the ports have seen major decreases in emissions. The CAAP 2017 Update seeks to speed up its zero-emission goals by targeting greenhouse gas emissions, with a 40% decrease in 1990 levels by 2030 and an 80% decrease by 2050.
