Jason Garben is the Port of Oakland’s new project management services manager, a newly created role that is expected to be key in helping to “spearhead the port’s seaport development and modernization efforts,” according to the port.

Garben, a former development services director for the Northern California city of Suisun who came to the port as a senior maritime project administrator in 2017, will report to the maritime director and oversee a four-member team tasked with planning infrastructure projects within the port, including marine terminals and support facilities.

He will also work with revenue and operations management teams to ensure business development and regulatory compliance, the port said.

“With so much attention on the global supply chain these days, the Oakland seaport will have the opportunity to really distinguish itself as a leader in maritime commerce,” port Maritime Director Bryan Brandes said. “Jason steps in at a critical moment and we’re counting on him to help write the next chapter in the port’s history.”
