ABC Recycling Launches Bellingham Shipping Terminal Exports

Bellingham Shipping Terminal again moves marine cargo, thanks to ABC Recycling, which has begun a regular service of exporting recycled metal from the terminal, the Port of Bellingham announced April 27. The new service is the start of the port’s efforts to “reactivate one of Whatcom County’s biggest potential job-creating assets,” following years of cleaning up historic contamination in the Whatcom Waterway after Georgia-Pacific closed its heavy industrial Pulp Mill in 2001 and efforts to make terminal upgrades, port Executive Director Rob Fix said.  This summer, the port is expected to begin a terminal electrification project, which would allow shippers…

Port of Bellingham to Host Marine Trades Job and Internship Fair 

The Port of Bellingham is set to host a Marine Trades Job and Internship Fair on May 19.  More than a dozen employers are expected to participate in the event, including All American Marine, Trident Seafoods, Bellingham Cold Storage, Northwest Marine Industries, the Blue Water Scholarship Fund, Sun Coast Rigging, Mantle Industries, Northwest Explorations, Bellingham Technical College, Pacific Marine Yacht Systems, Birdon Group, Nichols Brothers Boat Builders, Industrial Resources, On-Board Marine, the Working Waterfront Coalition of Whatcom County and the port.  Marine trades industries create or support over 6,000 jobs and represent 7% of Whatcom County’s total workforce, according to…
