Bellingham Shipping Terminal again moves marine cargo, thanks to ABC Recycling, which has begun a regular service of exporting recycled metal from the terminal, the Port of Bellingham announced April 27. The new service is the start of the port’s efforts to “reactivate one of Whatcom County’s biggest potential job-creating assets,” following years of cleaning up historic contamination in the Whatcom Waterway after Georgia-Pacific closed its heavy industrial Pulp Mill in 2001 and efforts to make terminal upgrades, port Executive Director Rob Fix said.
