BRIX Marine Delivers Catamaran to Haleiwa Shark Tours

Haleiwa Shark Tours has a new modern catamaran for its operations. Port Angeles-based marine vessel manufacturer BRIX Marine revealed Jan. 8 that it has delivered Kamohoali’i, a new modern Classic Tunnel Catamaran that’s custom-built for tours on the North Shore of Oahu. After traveling 36 days and more than 8,000 nautical miles from Portsmouth, Va., the U.S. Coast Guard Pacific Area’s newest Indo-Pacific support cutter, Harriet Lane, has made its way to its new home port at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii, the Guard announced Dec. 13. Pasha Hawaii joined Port of Oakland officials in christening the m/v Janet Marie, Pasha’s new 774-foot “Ohana Class” liquified natural gas container vessel, the port announced Aug. 9. The second of two “Ohana Class” LNG vessels commissioned by Pasha Hawaii, the new Jones Act ship exceeds year 2030 emission standards for ocean vessels set by the International Maritime Organization. Features include an energy-saving modern engine, optimized hull form, and an underwater propulsion system that the company says contains a highly efficient rudder and propeller. Matson Inc. is moving to help emergency agencies responding to the Maui wildfire that has so far killed nearly 100 people. The Honolulu-based company said Aug. 10 that it’s prioritizing emergency equipment and supply shipments to the area, chartering an extra barge for stand-by emergencies. This past weekend, Matson’s barge Columbia carried supplies from Honolulu to Maui for the Federal Emergency Management Administration and the Hawaii Food Industry Association. Honolulu-based Matson has announced that five employees will take on new leadership roles within the company.  Vic Angoco, Matson’s senior vice president, Pacific, will become senior vice president, Alaska, starting on July 1. He will take over for Bal Dreyfus, who is retiring.  Angoco, who will be based in Anchorage, currently oversees the company’s Hawaii, Guam, Micronesia and South Pacific operations and brings 32 years of maritime experience.
