Port of Long Beach officials plan to give stakeholders an update on the port’s Pier B On-Dock Rail Support Facility Project on June 15. The project is central to the port’s rail capital improvement program and would enact the port to move more of the cargo that would normally leave the docks by truck onto trains instead. “Moving cargo by on-dock rail is cleaner and more efficient, as it reduces truck traffic,” the port said in a statement. “No cargo trucks would visit the facility.
