Port of Portland Announces New Chief Development Services Officer

The Port of Portland has chosen Kristina Kelchner as its new chief development services officer, a new role that oversees strategy of the port’s Development Services division, which encompasses engineering, environmental, planning and development and safety operations, according to the port. Kelchner, who began her new role Feb. 22, previously served as the port’s assistant general counsel since 2022, working on various matters such as leasing and development of the port’s upcoming Mass Timber and Housing Innovation Campus at Terminal 2 and strategies for environmental remediation and permitting, the port said. Port of Portland Seeks Partners in Mass Timber Housing Factory

The Port of Portland is looking for partners to develop a mass timber housing factory at its Terminal 2. The port put out a public Request for Information on Nov. 30 to draw those interested in operating and possibly building an off-site factory at the T2 Mass Timber Innovation Hub. Feedback from the RFI is expected to shape a future formal Request for Proposal. The seaport is part of the Oregon Mass Timber Coalition, which netted a $41.4 million EDA grant in September.
