Rafael Delgado is the new director of Tenant Services and Operations at the Port of Long Beach. The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners this spring approved the appointment of Delgado, who since September 2019 had served as manager of the Tenant Services Division, which is tasked with providing support and customer service for supply chain stakeholders, including cargo owners, ocean carriers and terminal operators “so that they may operate their facilities and conduct their operations optimally and in compliance with leases and tariffs,” according to the port. Port of Long Beach Has Its Busiest Ever February

The Port of Long Beach recorded the busiest February in its history last month, handling 796,560 TEUs, according to new data released by the port. Long Beach moved 3.2% more cargo last month than it did in February 2021, with imports rising by 4.4% to 390,335 TEUs; exports dropping 1.2% to 117,935 TEUs; and the number of empty containers moved growing 3.5% to 288,290 TEUs year over year. Los Angeles, Long Beach Container Dwell Fee Put Off Yet Again

Continued progress to lower the number of containers lingering on their docks has prompted the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach to again postpone the start date of their “Container Dwell Fee.” Officials at the ports on March 18 delayed the fee’s start date to March 25 after the previous week’s data review showed a 62% drop in older cargo since announcing the fee Oct. 25.
