A Rare Order for New Ships

Chipolbrok Atlantic

In one of the few shipbuilding orders placed in the second quarter the Chinese-Polish Joint Stock Shipping Company (Chipolbrok), a regular caller on the West Coast with windmill blades, has signed contracts with China’s CSSC Chengxi Shipyard for the construction of up to four 62,000-dwt multipurpose heavylift vessels with delivery to start in 2022. The contract, Chipolbrok’s first newbuild order since 2014, includes firm orders for two vessels and options for a further two. China’s BoComm Financial Leasing will provide financing service for the transaction.

Established in 1951, Chipolbrok was China’s first international joint venture and currently operates a fleet of 16 ships
