The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management has announced the dates for two virtual public meetings aimed at gathering feedback for an environmental review of the newly designated Morro Bay Wind Energy Area.

The meetings are scheduled for 5 p.m. PT Dec. 1 and 9 a.m. PT on Jan. 5. Those who can’t attend may still submit input until Jan. 11.

BOEM recently designated 20 miles offshore the central California coastline and roughly 240,898 acres as the Morro Bay WEA, a possible area for offshore wind energy development.

The feedback is expected to be part of an Environmental Assessment to look at possible impacts from site characterization activities such as biological, archeological, geological and geophysical surveys and site assessment activities such as the installation of meteorological buoys in the designated area, according to BOEM.
