French Companies Join in Development of Sailing Freighter

Neoline

The French Sogestran group has decided to invest in Neoline’s project to develop a transatlantic sailing freighter through its subsidiary, Compagnie Maritime Nantaise – MN. Sogestran will assist Neoline in financing its first ships and setting up a company to operate them.

The 446-foot sailing cargo ships will use sails as their main propulsion, with an expected commercial speed of 11 knots, using trained crews and advanced meteorological routing technology.

Neoline plans to place an order for the building of the first vessel with Bouguenaissas-based Neopolia Mobility following support provided by several other French companies including Renault Group, Manitou Group and Groupe Beneteau.
