The Hawaii Department of Transportation is seeking bids from companies that can remove a 145-year-old inoperable vessel from the Honolulu Harbor, the transportation department announced July 25. Currently berthed at Pier 7, the Falls of Clyde previously served as a museum vessel at the Hawai‘i Maritime Center. The 280-foot steel-mast sailing vessel, which was privately owned until it was impounded in 2016, was removed from the Hawai‘i Register of Historic Places because of the ship’s condition.
