Maritime Institute Acquires Compass Courses

San Diego-based training provider Maritime Institute announced Nov. 4 that it’s acquiring Edmonds, Wash.-based based Compass Courses. The acquisition is expected to close by Dec. 1, and training programs are anticipated to begin in Edmonds next month. Maritime Institute Bringing Training Facility to Port of Everett

Maritime Institute plans to offer courses at a new mariner training facility at the Port of Everett starting in January. The port and the San Diego-based training facility announced July 31 that they have signed a 10-year lease on a location at the port’s Waterfront Place. The location at 1130 West Marine View Dr. would house a satellite facility that would offer classroom and on-the-water training and certification opportunities for current and potential mariners in the Pacific Northwest, especially Washington state, the port said.
