Port of San Diego Teams on ‘First-of-its-Kind’ Green Initiative

The Port of San Diego and Navy Region Southwest have announced a “first-of-its-kind partnership” that would allow the U.S. Navy access to take part in California’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LFCS) market, paving the way for millions of dollars to electrify Naval Base San Diego and the port. San Diego Port Anticipating Its Busiest Cruise Season Since 2010

The Port of San Diego’s new cruise season has set sail and business is bouncing back, according to the POSD. This season is poised to be the port’s busiest since 2010 with 140 cruises scheduled, up 45% from 2021, with all sailings at or near full capacity, bringing about 460,000 passengers. Port of San Diego, USS Midway Museum’s Proposed ‘Freedom Park’ Moves Forward

The Port of San Diego and USS Midway Museum are moving forward on a proposal to turn the Navy Pier into a public space to be named “Freedom Park,” the port announced April 13. Port commissioners inked a Memorandum of Understanding encompassing financial commitments for the project from the port of $11.7 million in federal stimulus funds and the museum’s contribution of at least $30 million.
