Seattle’s 93-year-old fireboat Alki has been dismantled at Tacoma, Washington after the removal of fuels, oils and hazardous materials plus some memorabilia. Built by Pacific Coast Engineering in 1927, the 118-foot by 26-foot boat was retired in 2013 and sold at auction to a private individual. Re-powered by two Cleveland 500 horsepower diesel engines in 1947, the vessel was capable of pumping water at 16,200 gallons per minute and was Seattle’s third fireboat.
