The American Trucking Associations honored Alaska West Express, a heavy haul and bulk trucking provider throughout the U.S. and Canada, with two safety awards during its spring Safety, Security and Human Resources conference in Minneapolis, Lynden Inc. announced July 25.

Alaska West Express, a Lynden subsidiary, saw its line haul operations team score first place in its mileage class, while its local haul operations team netted second place.

“This award represents the professionalism of every Alaska West Express employee and their commitment to performing each task safely,” Tyler Bones, the company’s director of HSSE Compliance, said. “It truly is a team effort that the whole Alaska West Express team should be proud of.”

The award’s process encompassed a comprehensive look at the company’s operations as a whole, from equipment maintenance to hiring and technology utilized to make the fleet safer to inspections by the Department of Transportation to accident/injury investigations.

“It is a very thorough process that took a couple of weeks to work through,” Bones said. “ATA digs into all aspects of the business to make sure that the winning fleets truly deserve the award.”
