China’s Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding has been contracted to build two 5,400-dwt container ships for Dubai-based P&O Maritime Logistics, the lead unit of which will be delivered in the third quarter of next year while the second will follow in early 2022.
The twin 90-meter-long shallow-draft vessels are being completed to a Wärtsilä design for operation along the coast of Papua New Guinea and will each have a nominal container capacity of 229 TEUs
