Anthony Peña has been chosen as the new government relations manager for the Pacific Northwest Waterways Association, the organization announced earlier this month.
Peña, who started with PNWA on Sept. 6, previously was the Southwest Washington representative and outreach director for Sen. Patty Murray for more than two years, as well as worked for Washington State Senator Annette Cleveland and as a labor and political organizer for Working America AFL-CIO for three years.
Peña “brings significant federal and regional experience, as well as a strong understanding of many issues and projects in PNWA’s portfolio,” the organization said in a statement. “PNWA is very excited to welcome Anthony, and looks forward to introducing him to PNWA’s members and colleagues at our annual convention in Vancouver this October.”
He has a bachelor’s degree in urban and regional planning from Eastern Washington University, where he was president of the Association of Student Planners. He also graduated from the Institute for a Democratic Future, which works to develop and promote emerging generations of Democratic and civic leaders in Washington state.
