Port of Woodland to Host Open House on Austin Point Dockside and Public Access

The Port of Woodland is planning an open house on Sept. 7 on the development of the port-owned Austin Point acreage.

The event is expected to center around “dockside infrastructure, commodities and market as well as public access options, investments and financial needs,” according to the port.

The open house is set from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Woodland Community Center, 782 Park St. For those who can’t make it, the port plans to make the information available at https://portofwoodland.com/ sometime following the open house.

Austin Point is property within Cowlitz County that belongs to the port, which owns 200 acres of industrial land along the Columbia River. It’s on the southernmost piece of property about seven miles from Interstate 5.

Port commissioners voted in 2019 to look into developing the property and have since launched a study examining the feasibility of a marine terminal and a study examining the necessary infrastructure to support that facility.
