Tug Salvaged on Columbia River

The 38ft tugboat Nova, owned by HME Construction, was barged to Vancouver, Washington for inspection and repairs after being lifted from the water by a heavy crane in late February.

The boat had capsized approximately 10 miles upriver of the McNary Dam on Feb 23 after strong winds blew it from its mornings. It had an estimated 750 gallons of diesel fuel and about 50 gallons of oil on board when it went down but the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality said that 400 feet of boom, along with absorbent pads, were used to control pollution.
