Port Angeles, Wash.-based based aluminum catamaran maker BRIX Marine on Jan. 22 announced the launch of a new custom vessel designed and constructed for Hawaii Nautical, the state’s biggest provider of ocean activities, such as boat tours, cruises and charters.
The 41-foot-long Naiad RHIB (rigid hull inflatable boat) Olohana features triple Yamaha F300 outboard engines, Naiad Design’s signature RHIB hull and custom finishes that allow the vessel to conduct a range of ocean experiences.
Olohana also features a “first-of-its-kind boarding design,” — a “swim club” side door in the collar system. The unique doors have an aluminum structure that hinges on the bottom, dropping to extend the side decks outboard. A telescoping swim ladder deploys off the boarding doors very close to the waterline.
BRIX said it has used the swim club function on other vessels, but this is the first time it has been deployed on a RHIB.
“Olohana represents a meaningful collaboration with Hawaii Nautical,” BRIX Marine Managing Director Perry Knudson said. “Working closely with their team allowed us to create a vessel that truly aligns with their operational needs and vision.”
Olohana is a Hawaiian word that means ‘family’ and ‘all hands working together.’
