USCG Cutter Harriet Lane Arrives at New Home Port in Hawaii

After traveling 36 days and more than 8,000 nautical miles from Portsmouth, Va., the U.S. Coast Guard Pacific Area’s newest Indo-Pacific support cutter, Harriet Lane, has made its way to its new home port at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii, the Guard announced Dec. 13. Coast Guard Cutter Intercepts $76+ Million Worth of Cocaine

The U.S. Coast Guard cutter Alert has offloaded over $76 million of cocaine in San Diego, the Guard announced June 9. The 5,776 pounds of drugs was intercepted during a counternarcotics patrol in international waters off the Central and South America coasts in May. The crew of the 210-foot medium endurance cutter partners with various agencies to combat illegal drug operations, including the Departments of Defense, Justice and Homeland Security. USCG Cutter Hickory Gets New Commander

The crew of the U.S. Coast Guard cutter Hickory is now led by Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Shea G. Winterberger, who officially took command of the vessel from Cmdr. Jeannette M. Greene during a recent change-of-command ceremony at the Pioneer Pier in Homer, Alaska on May 19. Presiding over the command change was Rear Adm. Nathan A. Moore. Winterberger now oversees the 48 crew members who are responsible for maintaining over 170 buoys and beacons from Kachemak Bay to the Kuskokwim River.
