NWSA Approves Logistics Company Lease at Terminal 10 in Seattle

Ray-Mont Logistics’ footprint in the North Harbor is about to grow, thanks to a new lease with the Northwest Seaport Alliance. NWSA managing members on Oct. 4 adopted a lease with one of the biggest containerized transloading terminal operators in Canada for Terminal 10, a 13.19-acre property on the west portion of Harbor Island in Seattle. About 8.1 acres of the site will be used for a containerized transloading facility for mainly agricultural products. The Los Angeles and Long Beach seaports experienced unprecedented spikes in air emissions in 2021, according to newly released air emissions inventories released by the ports Oct. 6. Both seaports attributed the emissions increase to supply chain bottlenecks brought on by pandemic-driven cargo volumes, resulting in cargo ships waiting at anchor. The average amount of time a cargo container remains at Los Angeles and Long Beach terminals before it leaves by rail or by truck remains high, according to new data released Sept. 20 by the Pacific Merchant Shipping Association. The average container dwell time in August was a “record high for rail-bound cargo,” at 16.5 days. That’s a slight uptick from the average of 16.4 days in July, according to PMSA data.
