The U.S. Coast Guard, Hawaii Department of Health and the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources have said they plan to focus on hazard mitigation in their next phase to restore Lahaina Harbor and its adjacent waterways post-Maui wildfires, it was announced Sept. 16. U.S. Coast Guard officials with the National Maritime Center (NMC) are providing duplicate merchant mariner credentials at no charge to mariners whose credentials were lost or destroyed during the recent wildfires in Hawaii. Affected mariners are asked to provide a statement of loss to NMC via fax at (304) 433-3412 or email the statement to IASKNMC@uscg.mil. The statement should include the mariner’s full name, date of birth, current mailing address, current phone number and/or email address, and the mariner’s reference number or if that is unknown the last four digits of the mariner’s social security number. Pasha Hawaii said Aug. 11 that its supply chain routes are fully operational as support efforts for Maui wildfire relief are underway. The company said that it has enacted its emergency response plan, which includes prioritizing emergency rations, foodstuffs and medical supplies via available barge capacity to Maui and its direct vessel roll-on/roll-off service. Matson Assists in Maui Wildfire Crisis

Matson Inc. is moving to help emergency agencies responding to the Maui wildfire that has so far killed nearly 100 people. The Honolulu-based company said Aug. 10 that it’s prioritizing emergency equipment and supply shipments to the area, chartering an extra barge for stand-by emergencies. This past weekend, Matson’s barge Columbia carried supplies from Honolulu to Maui for the Federal Emergency Management Administration and the Hawaii Food Industry Association.
